Administrator of the domain zone RS, the company RNIDS, in late October 2007 approved new rules for registration of names in the national domain of Serbia. RS domains in the zone can register individuals and legal persons who are both residents and nonresidents of Serbia.
Foreign citizens and interested organizations will be able to get their domain name, referring to the European domain registrar (eg, EuroDNS).
Registration of names will begin January 10, 2008, and applications will be accepted from January 5.
Recall that the RS zone to replace the Yugoslav domain YU, which has lost its significance due to the disintegration of Yugoslavia. In the area of YU register names for free, but is allowed only for legal entities - residents of the former Yugoslavia. In addition, an organization can not register more than one domain name. Domains can not be sold or transferred to third parties. It is obvious that the rules of the new Serbian RS zone is much more liberal.
In the future, all of the current Serbian websites with the end of YU can be transferred to the RS domain. In late 2006, ICANN began consultations on the possibility of liquidation YU zone in connection with the final disintegration of Yugoslavia. However, it is not known exactly, is destined to be realized if these plans. Yugoslav domain can continue to exist as a symbol that unites the entire territory of the former federation.
